About Domain valuation
View as MarkdownThe Domain valuation API returns a machine-learned GoValue valuation for a domain — an estimated value, a suggested Afternic list price, a wholesale value, a price range, and yearly sales probabilities. Access is subscription-based.
Overview
The Domain valuation API returns a GoValue valuation (GoDaddy's machine-learned estimate of what the domain is worth) for a supported domain. A single request also returns pricing signals derived from that estimate: a suggested Afternic list price, a wholesale value, a value range, and predicted yearly sales probabilities.
Use domain valuation to price domains before listing, to inform buy or sell decisions, or to show GoValue estimates directly in your own product.
Domain valuation is a separate concept from registration pricing. Go to About Domains pricing for the rates you pay to register and renew a domain. This page covers a domain's estimated resale value.
Subscription required
Domain valuation is a paid capability. The GoDaddy account behind your credentials needs an active GoValue subscription before GET /v1/domains/govalues returns data. Subscribe on the GoDaddy domain value appraisal page.
How valuation works
A GoValue valuation comes from GET /v1/domains/govalues. Pass the domain name in the domainName query parameter, and the response returns the valuation for that one domain.
The v1 valuation uses a static model: a domain's GoValue does not change between requests, so you can cache responses. All monetary values are returned in USD. There's no way to request a different currency.
What a valuation includes
Each response carries the value estimate, the pricing signals derived from it, and the sales-probability predictions. The following table describes the fields in a valuation response:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
goValue | GoDaddy's estimate of what the domain is worth. |
minPrice / maxPrice | The inclusive lower and upper bounds of the GoValue range. |
listPrice | Suggested price to list the domain for sale on Afternic. |
goValueWholesale | A lower estimate that reflects bulk or reseller (wholesale) pricing. |
salesProbability | Predicted probability the domain sells within a year at the GoValue price. |
salesProbability500 | Predicted yearly probability of sale at $500. |
salesProbabilityWholesale | Predicted yearly probability of sale at the wholesale value. |
The goValue, goValueWholesale, minPrice, maxPrice, and listPrice fields are money objects shaped like { "currencyCode": "USD", "value": 1234 }. The value is an integer in the currency's minor units. Divide by 100 for the display price in USD, so 1234 means $12.34. Each salesProbability field is a decimal between 0 and 1.
The following is a sample response:
{
"status": "OK",
"domainName": "testdomain.com",
"goValue": { "currencyCode": "USD", "value": 1234 },
"goValueWholesale": { "currencyCode": "USD", "value": 900 },
"minPrice": { "currencyCode": "USD", "value": 1000 },

}Coverage
Valuation covers supported TLDs only. A request for a syntactically valid domain whose TLD is not supported returns 422 UNSUPPORTED_TLD. A domain on a supported TLD that the model has no valuation for returns 404 VALUATION_NOT_FOUND. Neither response is retryable — treat both as "no valuation available" for that domain.
Subscriptions and usage limits
Domain valuation is a paid, subscription-based capability, managed on the GoDaddy domain value appraisal page. Subscribe with your GoDaddy account (plans differ by daily request limit), then create API credentials under that same account and call GET /v1/domains/govalues with them. Credentials inherit the subscription and request limit of the account that owns them.
Every successful response reports your current allowance in two fields: maxDailyUsage (your plan's daily request limit) and dailyUsage (requests made so far today, counted in UTC). After dailyUsage reaches maxDailyUsage, further requests return 429 SLOW_DOWN until the limit resets at 00:00 UTC.
Authentication
Requests authenticate with a GoDaddy OAuth 2.0 Personal Access Token (PAT) scoped to domains.domain:read, sent as Authorization: Bearer $GODADDY_PAT. The legacy sso-key credential is still accepted for existing users, but new integrations should use a PAT.
