Domain tools
View as MarkdownReference for the GoDaddy MCP server's domain tools, check_domain_availability and suggest_domains: parameters, limits, results, and example prompts.
Overview
This page documents the domain tools on the GoDaddy MCP server at https://mcp.godaddy.com. Both tools are read-only, use public domain data, and don't require authentication.
You don't call these tools directly. Your AI client picks a tool and fills in its parameters from your prompt. Knowing the parameters and limits helps you write prompts that get the results you want.
Both tools return the same result shape:
- Text: A formatted summary that any client can display.
- Structured content: The same results as data, which clients that render MCP Apps show as an interactive domain list.
- Registration links: Every available domain carries a GoDaddy link that adds the domain to a cart on godaddy.com.
- Pricing: First-year and renewal prices in the requested currency.
The tool descriptions tell the AI client to always show the registration links. If your client hides them, ask it to show the links.
check_domain_availability
Checks whether one or more exact domain names are available to register. For each domain, the result shows whether it's available, premium, in auction, or taken, plus pricing and a registration link for available domains.
- Authentication: None
- Read-only: Yes
- Destructive: No
Parameters
| Parameter | Type | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
domains | string | Yes | One or more full domain names, including the TLD, separated by commas or spaces. For example, example.com, example.net. |
currency | string | No | ISO 4217 currency code for pricing. Defaults to the request locale's currency, or USD when the locale is unknown. Go to Supported currencies for the accepted values. |
Limits and behavior
- Domains per call: Up to 50. A call with more than 50 valid domains returns an error that states the limit.
- Invalid entries: Entries that aren't valid domain names are skipped and listed under Skipped domains. The rest of the call still runs.
Example prompts
- "Is
brightleaf.comavailable?" - "Check
brightleaf.com,brightleaf.net,brightleaf.io, andbrightleaf.co." - "What does

suggest_domains
Generates domain name ideas from keywords, a seed domain, or a short business description. Each suggestion includes pricing and a registration link.
Suggestions aren't guaranteed to be available. Ask your client to check a suggestion with check_domain_availability before you register it.
- Authentication: None
- Read-only: Yes
- Destructive: No
