September 29, 2026: The Hosting API is now available for deploying and operating Node.js apps
View as MarkdownYou can now deploy and operate Node.js apps on GoDaddy's hosting platform — from your own code, the gddy CLI, or an AI coding agent. The Hosting API covers the full app lifecycle, from source upload to a live custom domain.
What changed
The Hosting API is a REST API covering the app lifecycle. It's async-first: write operations return a job or deployment record that you poll to completion. Every app has a preview variant for iteration before you publish it to a live URL.
Endpoints authenticate with a Personal Access Token holding the matching hosting.* scope:
- Apps —
POST /appscreates, plus read, update, and delete. - Source — upload a zip with
POST /apps/{appId}/imports, or deploy from a GitHub repository connected in the web UI. - Plans — list your Web Hosting plans and attach one with
PUT /apps/{appId}/subscription(required before publishing). - Deployments —
POST /apps/{appId}/deploymentspublishes preview to production;GET /apps/{appId}/deploymentslists history. - Secrets —
preview/publishenvironment secrets via RFC 6902 JSON Patch; values are write-only. - Logs, status, and domains — read logs and runtime status, restart an app, and attach an optional custom domain.
The same lifecycle is available from the terminal via the gddy hosting commands, and an AI coding agent can drive them through the gddy agent skill.
Who is affected
Available to all developers with API access or the gddy CLI. The platform currently supports Node.js apps; other runtimes will be supported in future releases. Previewing an app needs no plan; publishing requires a Web Hosting plan attached to the app — buy one through the Shopping API if you don't have one. These are new endpoints and commands on a new surface. No existing Domains, Auctions, Commerce, or Web Hosting integration is affected, and no action is required.
